Community
The primary business of the Society is conducted in weekly meeting which are held in the Upper Chamber of Demosthenian Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays when the University is in session, with one exception. Each year the Society celebrates its anniversary by holding the All-Night Meeting on the Saturday closest to February 19, featuring notable speakers, debate, and oratory.
All meetings of the Demosthenian Society are open to the public, and guests are encouraged to participate in debate. Virtually every subject imaginable has been brought before the Society at one time or another. Usually during New Business, a member or a guest introduces a resolution of interest to him/her, and all are then given the opportunity to voice their opinions and personal views on the topic.
Members of the community are welcome at Demosthenian Hall and at the meetings of the Demosthenian Literary Society. Demosthenian Hall is an excellent venue for student club meetings and for visiting lecturers.
